Every year, Florida holds a competition where people head into the Everglades at night to catch invasive pythons.

It’s a brilliant setup for a documentary, and the film makes the most of it: ten nights in the swamp, some proper characters, and a lot of people becoming completely obsessed with finding a mythical 20-footer. But it’s not just played for laughs. The deeper it goes, the more you understand why they’re all out there, and the film starts asking whether the pythons are really the problem, or just the easiest thing to blame for an ecosystem humans had already pushed to the edge.
